State competition in wok cooking brought together young chefs and professionals

The Stjepan Sulimanac High School in Pitomača was the main venue for a major showdown in wok cooking. As part of the second national competition in this discipline, 18 students from 13 high schools across Croatia gathered. The competition took place in two categories – students and professionals – and involved eight Croatian counties, including Požega-Slavonia, Virovitica-Podravina, and Istria.

The aim of the competition was to introduce the wok technique to students and professionals and to explain its application in modern gastronomy, where speed and quality of dish preparation are valued. In the competition area, participants were also introduced to part of the Podravka Gastro assortment, which competitors could use when creating their dishes.

After the creative cooking, the best among students and professionals were announced. In the student category, first place was won by Lukrecija Levak, while in the professional category, the best was Pavica Kovač. The expert committee consisted of renowned chefs Zlatko Sedlanić, Dražen Đurišević, and Erich Glavica. A unique educational masterclass on wok cooking was also organized for all attendees, led by a professional chef from Nepal.

The outstanding results of the competitors once again confirmed that the wok plays an important role in modern cuisine. It is the right answer for today’s fast, versatile, and dynamic lifestyle.
